Zwei KI-Modelle laufen direkt auf dem iPhone: ein Bild-Modell (SigLIP 2) und ein Nacktheits-Modell. Für jede Kategorie gibt es einen kleinen Klassifikator darauf. Jedes Foto wird einmal analysiert und das Ergebnis im Gerät gemerkt, damit spätere Scans nur neue Fotos anfassen. Nichts wird hochgeladen.

Das ist die Sicherheit, ab der ein Foto als Treffer zählt. Höher bedeutet weniger, aber sicherere Treffer. Niedriger bedeutet mehr Treffer, auch unsichere. Für Nacktheit steht der Standard bei 90 %, weil dort Fehlalarme am meisten stören.

In das Album „Ausgeblendet“ der Fotos-App. iOS schützt es mit Face ID oder Touch ID. Velum erstellt keine Kopie und keinen eigenen Tresor.

Fotos-App → Alben → ganz unten „Ausgeblendet“ → Foto öffnen → Teilen-Symbol → „Einblenden“. Das Album lässt sich in den iOS-Einstellungen unter „Fotos“ auch ganz verstecken.

iOS lässt Apps im Hintergrund nur etwa eine halbe Minute weiterarbeiten. Velum nutzt diese Zeit, meldet sich dann per Mitteilung und macht beim nächsten Öffnen genau dort weiter. Bereits geprüfte Fotos werden nicht noch einmal analysiert.

Wenn eingeschaltet, prüft Velum neue Fotos nachts, während das iPhone lädt. Findet es etwas, bekommst du eine neutrale Mitteilung. iOS bestimmt den genauen Zeitpunkt, deshalb kann eine Nacht auch mal ausfallen.

Die KI-Modelle stecken in der App. Das ist der Preis dafür, dass kein Foto das Gerät verlassen muss und Velum auch ohne Internet funktioniert.

Die kostenlose Version erkennt Nacktheit. Pro schaltet alle weiteren Kategorien frei: Freizügig, Cannabis, andere Drogen, Gewalt, Gruselig, sowie alle künftigen Kategorien. Pro ist ein Einmalkauf für 5,99 €, kein Abo.

Two AI models run right on the iPhone: a vision model (SigLIP 2) and a nudity model. Each category is a small classifier on top. Every photo is analyzed once and the result remembered on the device, so later scans only touch new photos. Nothing is uploaded.

It is the confidence from which a photo counts as a hit. Higher means fewer but safer hits. Lower means more hits, including uncertain ones. Nudity defaults to 90 % because false alarms are most annoying there.

Into the Photos app's "Hidden" album. iOS protects it with Face ID or Touch ID. Velum makes no copy and has no vault of its own.

Photos app → Albums → "Hidden" at the bottom → open the photo → share icon → "Unhide". The album can also be hidden entirely in the iOS settings under "Photos".

iOS lets apps keep working in the background for only about half a minute. Velum uses that time, then reports by notification and continues exactly there the next time you open it. Photos checked once are never analyzed again.

When enabled, Velum checks new photos at night while the iPhone is charging. If it finds something, you get a neutral notification. iOS picks the exact time, so a night can occasionally be skipped.

The AI models ship inside the app. That is the price for never sending a photo off the device and for working without internet.

The free version detects nudity. Pro unlocks every other category: revealing, cannabis, other drugs, violence, creepy, plus all future categories. Pro is a one-time purchase of 5.99 EUR, no subscription.

Settings → Velum Pro → "Unlock Pro" → "Restore purchases". The purchase is tied to your Apple ID and valid on every device signed in with it.

Select it and tap "Release"; it will not show up again. False alarms described by email (without the photo) help us improve the models.
